Inner Sovereignty with ORCHID
From Higher Self to Centered, Flowing Self
HAIL ORCHID, Phalaenopsis stuartiana, most refined, elegant, graceful, and heavenly of flowers, I call upon you to share your sensuous spell with me. Polish my best and rarest traits so that my magnetism attracts the best people and situations to my life. Let my shining personality sparkle to the surface and inspire my inner sovereignty to speak out with confidence and charm. Cast around me a circle of talent, affection, and love so that my days are filled with wonder. Aho! Hail and Welcome.
From Higher Self to Centered, Wise, and Flowing Self
Each moon cycle this year, starting at the New Moon, I am co-creating with an Ancestral River and a Goddess associated with the waters. This is part of my mythic quest to Become a River, and deeply informed by my Card of the Year "The Seeker of Water" from the Shapeshifter Tarot.
These working of becoming creative kin with river, ancestor, and goddess I am calling Vision Rivers because they are taking the place of the vision boards I have crafted every new moon since 2020. So far this has been incredibly fruitful, with the inception of the 52 Ripples Zine series as one concrete result of the visioning. This moon cycle I am working with the River Yare and the Goddess Hathor which brings me to the flower for this newsletter.
Hathor is a Powerful Goddess of Sovereignty, a current theme in my ritual work and inner explorations. Orchids are known as the Queen of flowers and their magic is interwoven with the discovery of inner sovereignty!

Calling forth your Sovereignty with Orchid
Orchids resonate with the energy of sovereignty, facilitating the connection to our inner Queendom, Kingdom, or Realm. Knowing and naming your inner sovereign is a powerful exercise in claiming the power you have in this lifetime, regardless of the phase of life you appear to be in. Have fun crafting a title for yourself that captures the breadth and essence of you! Write the title in your journal or grimoire and speak it into the mirror each day for a week to activate its power.

My Naming Quest
Hathor has an amazing list of epithets used in her prayers. The ancient Egyptians were especially poetic in their naming of the divine. Her titles included Sovereign of Stars, The Primeval, Eye of Ra, The Distant One, Lady of the Southern Sycamore, and Mistress of Heaven and Desert. Last month I visualized my inner Queen with the guidance of Sapphire and the Fae Queen Goddess Clíodhna. Expanding on that and inspired by Hathor's titles, I now name my inner domain, this version of myself who is Flowing and Powerful and Centered in my being. I feel shy to share the titles I came up with, as the less-than-noble inner voices feel this exercise is inflating and self-centered. Perhaps it is, or perhaps it is a way to explore and play and find belonging within one's self. Keeping with my commitment from the Full Moon I will share them here. I wrote:
Her Majestrix the Star-born Fae Queen Khiri Samantha Lee, most radiant Artist and Creatrix, Lady of the Dancing Misfits, Rooted Priestess of the Applehearth Grove, Creative Kin to River Visions, Myth-painter, Poetic Weaver of the Invocatrix Press, and Beloved Mama, Wife, and Friend.
Share your own courageous naming of your inner sovereign in the Chat or on the Discord Server. We can become a court of noble explorers together. May this playful exploration serve you and all that is good in the days and weeks to come.
Cross Pollination- a sharing of current musings and inspirations.
I tune into the Accidental Gods Podcast from time to time and found the discussion resonant in episode 281 - Wellbeing: It’s about wholeness, not happiness – with Dr Mark Fabian, author of Beyond Happy. Since my son was born I've been more intentional about naming the values I live by, so hearing another persons' view on the topic generated a lot of thought for me. Vision is one of my core values, which I express through my monthly commitment to create a Vision with collage. I currently define vision as follows:
Vision is the anchor around which all other values stem from. The virtue of vision refers to the ability to foresee future possibilities and create a guiding direction, rooted in values such as creativity, adaptability, appreciation for beauty, community involvement, spirituality, gratitude, peace, curiosity, and lifelong learning. This virtue encourages foresight, strategic thinking, and the drive to bring about positive change.
Through researching Goddesses and Faerie Queens I found this wonderful collection of essays titled, "The Faerie Queens: A Collection of Essays Exploring the Myths, Magic and Mythology of the Faerie Queens." I started with the essay on Clíodhna, the Fae Queen Goddess from my first Vision River, but continuing the reading i've learned about many more fascinating Queens from all different realms from mythology to literature.
I friend recommended the Finch App to me, which is a gamified self-care app. It's silly and simple and I love my little bird companion. It is helping me notice what I am prioritizing in terms of taking care of my self and my home, and which things continue to fall by the wayside (like watering my house plants or stretching on a regular basis). It's also helping me keep my commitment to journaling and stay hydrated in a fun way. If you are interested the app is here.
