Venus began her Retrograde on March 1st in the sign of Aries and will travel backwards into the sign of Pisces, completing her cycle on April 13th. She transitions signs on March 27th. Venus retrograde is a time to soften around relationships and creative output, as well as an opportunity to reflect on what brings value, joy, and beauty into your life.
In Astrology, the period of retrograde is associated with a time of reflection. Planets do not actually travel backwards through their orbits, it is simply an illusion caused by our perspective from Earth. This phenomenon perplexed ancient astronomers and the name Planet actually comes from the Greek “Wanderer.” The retrograde phase often receives a negative connotation, perhaps spurred by the action-oriented, product-driven world we live in that frequently disregards cycles of rest and restoration. However, if you know the energies that are under influence the time of any planets retrograde can be used to take stock, re-evaluate, and pivot.
Venus retrograde is more impactful than others partly because it only happens every two and a half years. Tapping into and paying attention to the shift in energy can be incredibly fruitful. Three Crystal allies for this time of rest and reset with Venus are Emerald, Rose Quartz, and Turquoise.

Surround yourself in the gentle, rosy glow of Rose Quartz to soften the introspective call of the Venus Retrograde.
Turquoise
Retrograde energy pairs perfectly with the introverted vibration of Turquoise, and can be used to take stock, re-evaluate, and pivot.

The Call of the Water
Since water has been a main focus for me this year I felt especially called to tap into the magick of Turquoise. And since Venus was born from the sea, using this time to alchemize even deeper into my water rituals felt like a powerful way to flow with the invitations of the retrograde energies. As I mentioned in my monthly update over on Patreon, I have been feeling a shift in the flow of my creative process, wanting to pivot and splash into fresh waters and follow my inspiration. I think I will dance with this throughout the retrograde and see how I am resonating on the other side on April 13th.

I have been dancing with the rivers of my ancestors in paper and paint since the New Moon. This is the pull of my heart and call of my inspiration in this season. I commit to continuing this creativity, invoking Turquoise as the light of Venus dips below the horizon to return as Morning Star, waiting and watching with the rhythm of my ancestral waters.
